A man driving a car had a blowout while on the highway. Although it dazed him at first, he was alert enough to get himself and his car out of harms way. He got out and pulled out the tire tools, a spare tire and went to work changing tires. He couldnt lift the corner of the car, at least not high enough to free the damaged tire, so he put the jack in place and turned the wheel so the jack lifted the car. Lacking sufficient physical strength, he went to a resource at hand to do the job for him- the jack. It did the heavy lifting he couldnt do by himself.
Young David in the Old Testament gave us a book full of words he spoke when lifes situations overwhelmed him-Psalms. He mentioned his pursuers, his frustrations with them and with God for not saving him on his own timetable. He also poured out praise for all the times he knew God had saved him from his enemies, his fears, his frustrations, etc. He said a lot of this in a cave, a place he knew he could go and hide and pour out his heart without stopping. Probably took him all night to do that because pain doesnt find the exit door very quickly sometimes. When you are hurting very badly, it can be a long time before peace comes. But come it does-in His time.
Sometimes prayer is all you have for dealing with life-thats when its all you need!
